I don't know about you, but I hate the term cheap. A better word would be affordable pet health insurance or discount pet health insurance; but cheap health insurance, no. There is nothing cheap about paying for veterinary costs these days.

Discounts Available

Wouldn't it be nice to get a quote from an insurance company and see a list of all of the discounts your pet is eligible for? There are many discounts to consider at various pet insurance companies; these include:
1. All pets that are either spayed or neutered get a 5% discount.
2. If your pet is not spayed or neutered yet, they will apply the discount retroactive once it is taken care of.
3. If your pet has a microchip, there is a 5% discount.
4. Two or more pets on a policy receives a 5% discount.
5. You receive a 5% discount if you pay for your policy in full, on a yearly basis.

Customize the Policy

Another way to save money and insure your pet's health is to customize the policy. A high deductible and low premium policy would be an excellent way to have catastrophic pet insurance. However, if you are a person on a budget and want to lessen your out-of-pocket veterinarian costs then you could opt for a lower deductible and lower co-pay.

Pet health insurance is similar to health insurance for us. There are many options to consider that provide affordable pet insurance. So cheap pet insurance is not what you should be focusing on. Focus instead on a customized and comprehensive pet insurance plan to fit your budget.
